These are the aims and objectives set out in the bid for 3-year funding from April 2002 - March 2005.
Aims:
- To develop a forum for the exchange of information and research, and share skills and good practice among people working for and with carers in mental health
- To improve practice, in terms of the planning, commissioning and delivery of services to carers
- To use the expertise of the membership to inform comment on national policy issues affecting carers
- To develop supportive links with other carer organisations / groups
Objectives:
The SCB Network will:
- Publicise its aims and objectives to all people involved in working with and for carers in the statutory, voluntary and private sectors
- Develop a membership structure that will enable it to be self-supporting at the end of that period. Size of membership is in the thousands - the network itself will help quantify how many people are involved in this area of work
- Develop a programme of conferences, seminars and local forums to promote the aims of the network
- Develop a website and newsletter to promote and disseminate the network's aims
- Identify core learning needs for people working with carers in mental health, and explore ways of meeting these
