The existence of the Network gives:
- A national resource for people supporting carers in mental health
- A way of identifying, publicising and sharing good practice - nationally
- To avoid reinventing the wheel - nationally
- A way for 'new hands' to learn from 'old hands'
- A way to connect and support people in this field, who may be few locally, but are many nationally
- A way of making possible, regionally and nationally, activities that would be impossible locally
- A way to avoid re-inventing the wheel - nationally
- The opportunity for cascaded benefits:
- Better-supported workers will perform better and stay longer
- Giving better-supported carers, who will care better and longer
- Giving better-supported people with mental health difficulties
