Carers may sometimes have to stand up for their rights - or the rights of the person they care for. A calm but firm demand for your reasonable rights to be upheld, can sometimes 'unblock' a situation. This can be made by carers themselves, or through agencies in a position to support them.
A carer may wish and/or need to get to know and use the procedures and mechanisms of both the mental health system, and the legal system.
