Support from friends, relatives and groups can be vital - to both carer and cared-for. The alternative is isolation - full of difficulties and dangers.
It often becomes clear who your real friends and family are, when you (and they) have to face up to a mental health difficulty - in yourself, or someone you care for.
- Support Groups are usually run by carers, and are useful for many things:
- Information - local, regional, national
- Someone useful to phone
- Moral support
- Local knowledge, tactics and contacts
- How to get local services - respite, assessments, training etc.
- Input to local strategy, access to key people
- People who understand
- People who can listen
- People who can often help
It is broad SCB policy to include on this site as many mental health and related group contacts as possible.
See Services list
Where a person's contact dtails are home details, there may be a 'Gateway' contact number to preserve privacy - this has to be our website policy.
